About AIGC Australia

An independent private sector governance assessment body promoting responsible artificial intelligence deployment in Australia.

Independent private sector body. AIGC Australia is not a government agency and does not exercise governmental or statutory authority. We provide independent governance assessment only.

Who we are

AIGC Australia is an independent private sector organisation established to support Australian businesses in developing and maintaining robust artificial intelligence governance practices.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into business operations, stakeholders require credible governance verification that these systems are deployed responsibly, transparently, and consistent with recognised ethical principles. AIGC Australia provides this verification through independent governance readiness and risk assessment services.

AIGC does not design, build, or implement AI systems. We provide independent governance assessment only. Our framework is informed by Australia's AI Ethics Principles and relevant governance guidance. We help organisations demonstrate their commitment to responsible AI deployment through evidence-based evaluation rather than advisory or implementation services.

Who we support

We support boards, executives, and risk leaders across regulated and high-impact sectors seeking independent governance verification. Our clients typically include organisations in healthcare, financial services, government contracting, and professional services where AI risk exposure is highest and stakeholder expectations are most demanding.

Whether preparing for procurement requirements, responding to board concerns, or proactively building governance maturity, we provide the independent assessment needed to demonstrate responsible AI deployment to boards, procurement teams, insurers, and external stakeholders.

Ultimately, our role is to help organisations demonstrate defensible AI governance to boards, procurement teams, and external stakeholders.

Who stands behind this

Our work is guided by an Advisory Council comprising senior practitioners with a minimum of 15 years experience in enterprise risk, governance, regulatory compliance, and industry-specific expertise. The Advisory Council provides strategic guidance and does not participate in individual assessment outcomes. Operational roles are performed by independent assessors engaged under AIGC's independence and governance requirements. Assessors operate independently and hold no commercial interest in assessment outcomes.

Our mission and values

Mission

To promote responsible, transparent, and accountable artificial intelligence deployment across Australian organisations through independent governance readiness and risk assessment.

Independence

We maintain strict independence from the organisations we assess. Our assessment outcomes are based solely on objective evaluation against established criteria, free from commercial influence. Assessment findings are determined by AIGC's Review Panel following independent evaluation.

Trust

Building confidence in Australian AI deployment through rigorous, transparent assessment processes and clear communication of AIGC governance criteria and assessment outcomes.

Responsibility

Advancing responsible AI practices that respect human rights, promote fairness, ensure accountability, and reflect Australian values and ethical principles.

Australia's AI Ethics Principles

Our assessment framework references and is informed by Australia's AI Ethics Principles, which provide a foundation for responsible AI development and deployment:

Human, societal and environmental wellbeing

AI systems should benefit individuals, society, and the environment throughout their lifecycle.

Human-centred values

AI systems should respect human rights, diversity, and the autonomy of individuals.

Fairness

AI systems should be inclusive and accessible, and should not involve or result in unfair discrimination.

Privacy protection and security

AI systems should respect and uphold privacy rights and data protection, and ensure the security of data.

Reliability and safety

AI systems should reliably operate in accordance with their intended purpose throughout their lifecycle.

Transparency and explainability

There should be transparency and responsible disclosure about AI systems to ensure people understand outcomes.

Contestability

When an AI system significantly impacts a person, there should be a timely process to allow people to challenge the use or output.

Accountability

Those responsible for AI systems should be identifiable and accountable for their outcomes.

Our approach

AIGC Australia takes a practical, outcomes-focused approach to AI governance assessment. We recognise that effective governance requires both appropriate processes and genuine organisational commitment.

Our assessments evaluate not only the documentation and policies organisations have in place, but also how these are implemented in practice. We look for evidence of accountability, transparency, ongoing monitoring, and genuine engagement with ethical considerations.

We engage constructively with organisations during assessment, outlining governance observations and maturity findings. Where governance gaps are identified, organisations receive a practical uplift roadmap and may choose to address these independently.

Through this approach, we aim to support the development of mature AI governance practices across the Australian business landscape while providing stakeholders with structured evidence of governance maturity.
